Kindness & compassion always find a way back when we need help most. The people in these stories were not looking for a reward. They simply chose to do the right thing. But generosity has a way of returning when you least expect it. You will see how a chance encounter saved a career and how a small act of help blossomed into the love of a lifetime. This is a sincere look at the law of gratitude and a heartfelt reminder that good deeds do not go unnoticed.

I work as a furniture maker & I made kitchen cabinets for my brother at cost for his new apartment. At the housewarming party we were celebrating and talking. My brother’s wife started asking about the real price of the furniture. I mentioned it and she was silent for the entire evening. A month later it was my turn to be silent. It turns out this woman advertised me to everyone and created a website with my details and promoted my services in every way possible. Orders just started pouring in.

I remember working late one evening when it was really cold outside. I stood at the bus stop waiting but no bus showed up. Taking a taxi was not an option since I had no money with me and my neighborhood was far from the city center where most people were heading. I started to feel stuck with no way to get home. A car stopped next to me with a man & woman inside. They rolled down the window & asked where I needed to go. I told them my address but explained that I could not pay them anything. The driver smiled & told me to get in because they would take me there anyway. During the drive we started chatting and I learned something surprising about them. They spent their free time driving around the city looking for people who needed help getting home. They did this regularly without asking for anything in return. Every time I remember that night I feel grateful and happy. Those two people were genuinely kind and I hope good things come their way.

The bus ride to school takes a long time so I often struggle to stay awake during the trip. On this particular morning I chose a window seat & an elderly woman sat down beside me. At some point during the journey I dozed off without realizing it. When I woke up I discovered that my head had dropped onto her shoulder and she was softly stroking my hair. I started to pull away but she stopped me and said she would make sure to wake me when my stop came. When it was time for me to get off she handed me some pies. She had been taking them to her grandchildren but wanted to give me a few. That morning turned out to be one of the best I ever had.

I was driving out of town when my car suddenly stopped working right in the middle of the highway. I had no phone signal & other cars just kept driving past me. Then a sedan pulled over and a woman got out. She stayed calm & attached a tow rope to my car. She towed me all the way to the nearest service station and would not accept any payment for helping me. I managed to track down her contact information recently & sent her a large bouquet of flowers. The world needs more people like her.
My boyfriend came home late & brought me flowers even though money was tight. They were just some little flowers for no particular occasion. I was surprised and wondered why he bought them. He explained that when he was coming out of the subway he saw an old lady standing there with a bouquet in the cold. He felt sorry for her and spent his last money to buy the flowers so she could go home right away. I know what he did was not extraordinary but it made me feel good about him.
I owned a small flower shop. A big store with cheap prices opened close by. I figured my business was finished. Then their delivery truck stopped working one day. They had many orders waiting and customers were upset. I noticed the manager from that store looking worried. I grabbed the keys to my old van and handed them over. I told him to use it for deliveries and bring it back when he could. He looked shocked but he took the keys. He returned a week later holding flowers and wanted to discuss working together. We now run the top decoration business in our area. He told me that plenty of people do business but not many are genuine. He wanted to partner with someone genuine.

It happened in the early 1980s. We somehow ended up with two Christmas trees that year. On Christmas Eve my mom suggested we go for a walk and we decided to bring one of the trees with us. When we stepped outside our building we saw two sisters who lived in the apartment above ours. They were around twelve & fourteen years old. They had not noticed us yet and we overheard the older sister talking to the younger one. She said they should look for some branches to decorate so their mom would be happy when she came home from her work shift. We were standing right there with an extra tree. We gave it to them immediately. I still remember how happy everyone felt that night.
I was driving when I noticed heavy rain falling everywhere. A girl was standing by the road and she was completely wet. I decided to stop and offer her a ride. I also gave her my jacket to help her warm up before we drove away. The following day I had a job interview scheduled. The person interviewing me was a woman who seemed quite serious & strict. Without warning the door suddenly opened. A girl walked into the room holding a cup of coffee. I immediately recognized my jacket on her. She looked at the woman and said that if the company did not hire me she would leave her position. The company decided to hire me for the job. I received my jacket back from the girl. As time passed I eventually married her.

In 2012 I lost my job and my car stopped working. I had to use the bus to get my 9-year-old son from school & then we would wait 30-45 minutes for the bus home. Winter made everything harder. A woman came up to me one day. She lived near us. She began driving us home and never asked for money. I still feel deeply grateful for her kindness because she helped someone she barely knew.

There were two girls in our class who used to be best friends. Everyone liked one of them while the other girl was generally disliked by most people. Recently they stopped being friends & the unpopular girl did something cruel. She printed out bad photos of her former friend and wrote mean things on them. Then she put these photos up around the entire school. The girl in the photos was devastated and ran through the hallways crying while she tried to take them all down. Something amazing happened the following day though. Students from many different classes decided to help her. They printed out nice photos of her and wrote kind messages on them. Several students even thanked her for helping them with their schoolwork and being supportive when they needed it. This time she cried because she felt happy and grateful. She no longer speaks to her former best friend. Seeing how students came together to support her made me believe that good people still exist and that gives me hope for the future.
